Koorie Heritage Trust Shop

The Koorie Heritage Trust Shop opened at the Koorie Cultural Centre at Flinders Lane in 1999. Since this time, the shop has provided increased opportunities for Koorie artists to promote and sell their work. In line with the philosophy of the trust to assist in the development and promotion a Koorie identity and a presence within Victoria, the Shop endeavours to support local Koorie artists and local products whenever possible.

Books

The book section of our Shop represents one of Victoria’s premier suppliers of Aboriginal books. With stock covering a range of 20 categories we are constantly updating our book stock to provide for the wide area of interest and studies of clients who use our resources regularly.

Advice and guidance for our customers is readily available from our experienced staff. Books can be shipped throughout the world and email or fax enquiries receive prompt attention.

Art

We stock authentic paintings on stretched canvas & un-stretched which are great for overseas presents. Photos by Wayne Quilliam & prints on paper by Alison Buchanan are just a couple of artists represented in our shop. Our framed hand-painted art pieces make ideal gifts.

Artefacts

Over 30 artists are represented producing handcrafted traditional tools and instruments. We stock boomerangs, clapsticks, hunting clubs, coolamons, didjeridoos, shields, emu callers and digging sticks. Our hand carved emu eggs are very special collectors pieces. All items come with the Koorie Heritage Trust Certificate of Authenticity.

Audio Visual

We have a broad selection of Indigenous CDS, ranging from contemporary to traditional artists Christine Anu to Richard Franklin & Jida Murray-Gulphilil. Our DVD selection covers contemporary films such as ‘Ten Canoes’ & ‘Rabbit Proof Fence’ to documentaries from Julie Gough & Vikki Walker’s personal journey.

Bush Tucker

We have an excellent variety of native bush foods, ranging from spices, pasta to sauces & chocolates. Spice up your dish with native pepper berry, bush tomato or Mark Olive’s ‘Tanami Fire.’ Highlight your party with ‘Wild Hibiscus Flowers’ in either champagne or mineral water. Try our variety of tea such as wattleseed, aniseed and forest berry.

Cards & Stationery

Greeting cards have been produced from artworks in the Koorie Heritage Trust Collection. Over 50 artworks are represented in this range. We also have a wide selection of greeting cards, postcards & notepaper from all over Australia.

Ceramics & Glassware

We offer a great range of glassware from ‘Wathaurong Glass & Arts’ with Indigenous designs that are individually handcrafted. We also stock handpainted glassware from Albury NSW which ranges from small ring bowls to coolamons & platters to framed glass tiles. Our ceramic range comes from Victorian artists ‘Miss Emily Art’ & ‘Bnym Indigenous Designs’ which are individually handcrafted.

Children

Children are special at the Shop; we have a dedicated book section for children’s picture books & fiction. We also stock many interesting toys & games from puppets to dolls & jigsaw puzzles.

Clothing

Browse our high quality t-shirts including the ‘Deadly’ range and ‘IndigiKids’ which are perfect for new borns up toddlers. Aunty Joan has produced beautiful skirts and matching t-shirts for 6-10 year olds.

Flags & Souvenirs

We stock Aboriginal, Torres Strait Island & Australian flags in four different sizes, hand waver, 900 x 450mm, 1370 x 685mm & 1800 x 900mm. We also stock an extensive range of items such as badges, magnets, stickers and keyrings.

Health & Beauty

We have a selection of ‘Yiyangu, Lemon Myrtle Fragrances and Mount Romance’ products, ranging from mud mask & cleanser to emu oil & moisturiser.

Homewares

Something unique for the home can always be found at the shop. We have tablecloths, napkins, coasters, tea towels, aprons, placemats, candles and other items to brighten up your home.

Jewellery & Accessories

We have many unique handmade pieces by local artists that would make very special gifts.
