Library

The Library is situated on the ground floor of the Koorie Heritage Trust Inc Cultural Centre and is open to members and subscribers from Monday to Friday - 10am to 4 pm. Our users range from tertiary institutions, researchers, students to members of the general public. It is promoted as a unique research area and also a reading and information room for all members. We seek to promote the Trust’s aims to serve as both a resource and to raise awareness, understanding and appreciation of Koorie culture throughout the community.

The Koorie Heritage Trust Library offers members:

  • A unique collection of books and materials on the Koories of south-eastern Australia
  • A Rare Books and documents section dating from 1843
  • A comprehensive serial collection
  • A large range of videos with viewing facilities
  • An audio collection
  • Posters, maps, serials and reports area
  • Internet facilities
  • Photocopy Room
  • User’s database
  • A qualified Librarian
  • An adjoining lounge with tea and coffee facilities

The Koorie Heritage Trust Inc. offers a range of services including use of an Australian Indigenous subject specific library that concentrates on Victorian Aboriginal history and contemporary issues. Use of the library is free to members of the Trust and available to other users for a cost of $5.00 per day.

Although it is a non-loaning library, there are photocopying services available for 20 cents per page.

Currently the Librarian is available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with the Education Manager and Cultural Officer of the Trust available to assist library users on the other days of the week.
