Library Collection

Around 6,000 books and documents are held in the Trust’s Library Collection, the earliest works dating back to the 1840s. The Collection also includes publications written by the Trust, historic books, contemporary published works, unpublished documents, theses, serials, posters, maps and some published audiovisual items. The Trust Library specializes in books and documents from south-eastern Australia, making it unique.

The majority of this Collection has been purchased and collected by the Trust staff and many significant donations have also been made over the years. A comprehensive list of subjects is available on site, with books catalogued under 30 headings including pre-contact, contact history, dreaming, life stories, and land.

Our librarian, Judy Williams, also does supplementary research, collecting articles from newspapers, the internet and other libraries and institutions. Our librarian is a great resource, providing knowledge and links into a wide range of sources.

The Trust’s Library is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm. It is free to Members and the Koorie community. A charge of $5 per day applies to other users. The Library is non-lending but photocopying is available.
